One of my favourite guitarists is Guthrie Govan. He is a jazz fusion guitarist and his signature guitar is Charvel HSH FLAME MAPLE.
His peculiarity is that is technique is so perfect he treats the guitar as part of his body: he is able to play with every technique.
The very first Guthrie’s piece I heard is Waves, from his album Erotic Cakes. It was the ringtone of my friend Jkans (all hail Jkans), and, from the moment I heard it the first time, I wondered who could write such a piece.
Another piece I appreciate a lot is Wonderful Slippery Thing, of which I will also provide a live version.
Finally, I love watching his jam sessions, as he’s a master of improvisation. Definitely worth a look.
